Short answer: Easiest entry: food service and accommodation. Best pay-to-effort: construction and shipbuilding. Long-term residency arc: nursing care.
A view of the sectors most Nepali applicants choose.
| Sector | Entry difficulty | Monthly pay (gross, JPY) | Long-term outlook |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food service | Lower | 200k to 230k | Steady demand |
| Accommodation | Lower | 200k to 240k | Tourism-cycle exposure |
| Nursing care | Medium (skill + language) | 220k to 280k | SSW-2 pathway, family eligible |
| Construction | Medium | 240k to 320k | Strong demand, physical work |
| Shipbuilding | Medium | 240k to 310k | Cluster jobs in Hiroshima / Nagasaki |
The exception most miss. SSW-1 caps at five years; SSW-2 allows family and renewable stay — but only some sectors offer the SSW-2 path. Pick the sector with your long-term plan in mind, not just the test fee.
