How we keep this place useful
These rules apply across every community. Individual communities may add stricter rules.
1. Be useful or be quiet
Add context, evidence, or a real answer. "+1" and one-liners get downvoted into oblivion. If you have not finished a thought, hit save and come back.
2. No spam, no self-promotion without value
Sharing your own work is welcome only when it directly answers the question. Repeated link-drops, affiliate spam, and cold pitches will get you banned.
3. No harassment, doxxing, or hate
Disagreement is encouraged. Personal attacks, slurs, identity-based abuse, and sharing private information are immediate ban triggers.
4. Real names encouraged, anonymity respected
Verified experts get a badge, but anonymity is allowed and protected — especially for sensitive topics like salary, mental health, or workplace abuse.
5. Use the right community
Posting in the wrong community gets your post moved or removed. Read the community description and rules before posting.
6. Search before you post
If a thread already exists, reply there. Duplicates get merged.
7. Moderation is final at the appeal stage
You can appeal a moderation decision once via the contact form. After review by an unrelated senior moderator, the decision is final.
