After Gen-Z 2025 protests, how is the interim government actually delivering accountability?

Short answer: Through the National Integrity Audit, a protest-deaths commission, and a set of governance reforms — but several reports remain unpublished as of May 2026.

What has and has not happened.

  • PM Oli and cabinet resigned on 9 September 2025; PM Sushila Karki was appointed interim PM on 12 September 2025.
  • National Integrity Audit launched to investigate misuse of development funds.
  • Protest-deaths commission set up; its report’s publication has been pressed by Amnesty and HRW.
  • Social media policy has shifted; the ban that catalysed the protests was reversed.

Law vs practice. Reports launched and reports published are different milestones. The accountability promise depends on the second.

What has changed in your municipality since September 2025? What hasn’t?
