Short answer: A short written application to the public information officer of the office, citing the Right to Information Act 2064 (2007). Reply is required within 15 days; complex requests can extend.
The simple template.
- To: Public Information Officer, [name of office]
- Subject: RTI Application under Right to Information Act, 2064
- Details: specific information requested, time period, purpose (optional but useful).
- Fee: a nominal fee may apply; receipt your payment.
Law vs practice. First-attempt RTIs often receive partial responses. Appeal to the National Information Commission within 30 days of an unsatisfactory reply. Persistence is the system.
Have you filed an RTI? What did and did not come back?
