Can I send USD from Nepal abroad legally for medical / tuition / visit?

Short answer: Yes, within NRB’s stated annual allowances — but the per-purpose paperwork (admission letter, medical referral, travel itinerary) matters more than the absolute cap.

Common categories and what to bring.

  • Tuition: university admission letter, fee schedule, visa.
  • Medical: hospital referral letter, treatment estimate.
  • Travel: itinerary, passport, visa.

The exception most miss. Many people get turned back at the bank because the documents don’t tie cleanly to the request. Pre-stamp the supporting documents, walk the file in together — not in pieces.

What was the bank that handled your transfer cleanly? Name names.
